Who Makes Esse Cigarettes
Esse is produced by KT&G Corporation, headquartered in Daejeon, South Korea, and listed on the Korea Exchange under ticker 033780. Incorporated on 1 April 1987, the company traded for years as Korea Tobacco & Ginseng Corporation and took the name KT&G Corporation in December 2002 after privatisation.

Esse in Europe: the KT International Licence
Inside the European Union, Esse is manufactured and distributed under licence by KT International (KTI), a tobacco company based in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. An agreement dated 20 October 2023 and announced in July 2024 gives KTI exclusive rights, for a three-year term, to make and distribute KT&G products including Esse within the EU. KT&G began selling Esse in Germany on 3 July 2025 through its local partner Hauser.
