Terms printed on the pack

These words appear in the product names above. They are manufacturing and blend classifications, not descriptions of taste.

Classifications used in this subcategory
Term What it identifies
Fine Cut Cut width. Narrow strands intended to be rolled by hand.
Shag The narrowest hand-rolling cut; also a category name in some markets.
HVT / High Volume Processing designation. The leaf is expanded during manufacture, giving a lower density than unexpanded cut.
Halfzware Dutch blend classification. A mix of Virginia leaf with dark air-cured leaf.
American Blend Blend classification combining Virginia, Burley and Oriental leaf.

Because HVT is a density designation, two packs of the same stated weight can differ in bulk. The net weight printed on the pack is what governs, not how full the pack looks.

Pipe tobacco

Borkum Riff is the only pipe brand stocked here, in two lines — Original and Whiskey — both in 50 g tins. It is cut to a different specification from the hand-rolling products above and made to be packed into a bowl. Where the maker declares an added flavouring for a line, that appears on the product page.

Packaging formats

Three formats appear here, and each product page states which it uses. Box is rigid, most common at 25 g and 30 g. Pouch is flexible and resealable, standard across the mid weights. Stand-up pouch bag has a gusseted base that holds the pack upright, used at larger weights such as the 145 g Winston line. Format has no bearing on the tobacco inside — it affects how well the pack reseals.

Storage, and why pack size matters

The larger the pack, the longer it stays open, and open time is what governs moisture loss. A 250 g pack is exposed over far more openings than a 25 g box, so it is worth decanting a working portion into a smaller airtight container and leaving the main pack shut. Boxes need a tight lid; pouches should have the air pressed out before sealing. Keep all of them away from radiators, windowsills and anywhere the temperature swings during the day.

Ordering, age verification, dispatch and returns

Nobody under 21 may order here. Verification runs at checkout, and the carrier will ask for an age-eligible recipient on delivery.

Destinations, transit times and excluded jurisdictions are in the shipping policy; return conditions and claim windows are in the returns policy. An opened box, pouch or tin falls outside them. Prices sit on individual product pages.

Frequently asked questions

High Volume Tobacco. It is a processing designation: the leaf is expanded during manufacture, giving a lower density than unexpanded cut of the same weight. Six products here carry HVT or High Volume in the name.

It is a Dutch blend classification for a mix of Virginia leaf with dark air-cured leaf. It describes leaf composition, not cut and not pack size. In this subcategory it appears on one Bali Shag line.

No. Red Bull is a long-standing hand-rolling tobacco brand and has no connection to the drink of the same name. It is stocked here in 120 g.

Neither works as intended. The two are cut to different specifications and finished at different moisture levels.
