Prima Cigarettes from Ukraine

Made by Imperial Brands at the Kiev Tobacco Factory

Prima is produced by Imperial Tobacco Production Ukraine, the Imperial Brands subsidiary that operates the Kiev Tobacco Factory in Kyiv. The brand was in production there by 1970. The plant passed to the German group Reemtsma in the 1990s, and Imperial Tobacco acquired Reemtsma in May 2002; the parent company has traded as Imperial Brands plc since 2016 and is based in Bristol, United Kingdom.

In 2005 the then Reemtsma-Kyiv Tobacco Factory added the Prima Lux Slims format. The group also runs two cigarette factories in Poland, at Tarnowo Podgórne near Poznań and in Radom; other Ukrainian-market brands from the same maker include West, Jade and Imperial Classic. The catalogue lists sixteen variants across five lines: Lux, Optima and Silver in King Size; Lux Selection in Slims and Super Slims; and the filterless Non-Filter in King Size. The colour words are line identifiers printed on the packs.

What Goes Into the Cigarettes

Ukrainian retail listings record the Prima Silver Blue variant as an American blend with an acetate filter; the Non-Filter variant is made without a filter. Filtered variants are packed in hinge-lid boxes of 20.

Cigarettes sold in the European Union are required to meet the reduced ignition propensity standard EN 16156.

Which Version You Receive

The market version dispatched is EU duty-paid, with an excise stamp from an EU member state and the EU-format combined health warning. The statutory warning on these packs is printed in Polish or English.

Cartons are supplied in manufacturer-sealed outers and are not repacked or split. Check the side panel of the pack for the production code and the tax stamp. Orders are dispatched from Katowice, Poland.
