Reemtsma has been part of Imperial Brands plc since 2002, when Imperial Tobacco acquired a 90.01 percent stake; Imperial Brands is based in Bristol, England, and listed on the London Stock Exchange as IMB.
Production takes place in Germany at the Reemtsma plant in Langenhagen, in operation since 1971 and employing around 610 people. In October 2025, Imperial Brands announced plans to phase out production there through 2027. In Poland, the brand is distributed by Imperial Tobacco Polska S.A.
The brand was launched on the German market in 1981, initially through specialist tobacco shops. It is an American blend cigarette; Imperial Brands lists it among its American blend offerings, and the launch packs of 1981 carried the American Blend designation.
