The filler is a short-filler, ribbon-cut pipe tobacco mix. Virginia leaf is flue-cured, fixing the sugars in the leaf; Burley leaf is air-cured, leaving a porous structure that absorbs the aromatic casing; Cavendish-processed tobacco is steamed under pressure with a sugar casing, then pressed and sliced. The cherry characterizing flavour is applied as a volatile top dressing immediately before rolling.
